Ps Lindsay preached this week, and she taught on the book of Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy is known to be a series of speeches by Moses where he’s calling the people to be faithful to their God.

The sections of Deuteronomy is chapters 1-3 – where Moses summarises the rebellion of the previous generations, 4-11- Moses reminds the new generation to be faithful to God and introduces the Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4), 12-26 – focuses on a collection of laws, where the location for the temple should be, introduced tithing, sowing, showing kindness to the needy and chapters 27- 34 – Moses final speech where he warns the Israelites to listen and obey God to avoid famine, plagues and exile from the land.

Ps Lindsay reminded us of Moses personal story, as a baby where he lived in the palace and taught us why Moses was able to address the people was because he was obedient to God and committed to God and to get the people to the promised land.
Same as Jesus was committed to God’s instruction to die on the cross, Luke 22:42-43. Moses had to retell the past to remind the people of the countless times they disobeyed God but also to show God’s great compassion toward them.
