Giving Options

We believe there are three categories of giving;

1. Tithe
2. Offerings
3. Gift of giving

At View Church Tygerberg Hills, we practice tithing for the support of Christ’s Body, the church, as God commands. We recognise that giving 10% of our income is the Biblical standard for giving.

The giving of tithes and offerings is worship to and an expression of the relationship between the individual giver and the Lord.  Funds are not “income only,” they are worship, and must not be considered a business transaction, but an expression of gratitude toward God.

We believe that Jesus is the purest example of generosity. Jesus not only gave himself in teachings (Matthew 5-7) and healings (Matthew 9:27-34); but He also fed the hungry (Matthew 14:16-20) and cared for the lost (Luke 15).

The generosity of believers contributes to growing a local church that can minister to the community; have an impact through outreach missions and social projects; and ultimately see the fulfilment of the vision to advance the kingdom of God on earth.

We believe tithing is Biblical and here are 9 reasons we tithe:

1. 1. It provides for God’s house
   2. ⁠It tells God we trust Him
   3. It creates margin in our lives for God to fill
   4. It reminds us that we are not the source
   5. It connects our money to a Kingdom purpose
   6. It gives our jobs eternal significance
   7. It transforms our money into a seed
   8. It breaks greed and self-reliance off our hearts
   9. It lets everything else in our lives know that God is first
