FAMILY DISCOVERY TIME – WEEK 1
SUNDAY 17 JANUARY 2021
Our View Kids teams love being able to lead the kids and teens of our church. We are privileged to spend time with them and helping them grow in their relationship with God.
But we also know that, as parents and guardians, you have a bigger influence on your kids and teens. And so, over the next few weeks, we are going to provide some material that you can use to discover what God’s Word says for you and your family. Take time each week around the table, read the passage together and spend some time sharing what God is saying through His Word to each of you.
FAMILY DISCOVERY TIPS:
- Let everyone read a verse from their own Bible
- Find a time that works best for the whole family
- Ask a question after reading the scripture that will start a discussion around the table
- End by praying for each other and pray for the week ahead
THE GOOD SAMARITAN
As a man struggled on the side of the road, having been injured and robbed, many passed him by. Some were too busy to stop and help. Others just didn’t care. But when a certain Samaritan saw the injured man, he had compassion on him. The good Samaritan took him to a nearby inn and paid the innkeeper to care for him. He said whatever the innkeeper spent, he would reimburse him when he passed back through town on his way home.
When the Good Samaritan saw someone in need, he went above and beyond what others were doing. Life is sometimes busy and we all have things we need to do, but when we see someone in need – even a stranger – the right thing to do is stop and help in any way that we can.
DISCUSSION QUESTION EXAMPLE:
- How can we help each other take notice of people in need and help them?
For the younger kids, you can watch the short video below and download the craft to colour in as they reflect on how they can help others.
