Reset – Part 3

Reset

Ps Lindsay Smith

Ps Lindsay preached this morning, and she focused on resetting your mind. Ps Lindsay shared some statics: Humans experience 60 000 thoughts on average per day, 80% of the 60 000 thoughts are negative and 95% of this are repetitive thoughts.
She also reminded us that all thoughts are formed in the brain and used a jar of sweets, liquorice all sort representative of good thoughts while sour worms represented negative thoughts.

Ps Lindsay said that if we ponder on negative thoughts for too long, it could affect the positive thoughts, just as the sour worm’s salt eventually rubbed off on the liquorice all sorts leaving it tasting as sour as the sour worms.

Likewise, this could impact our spiritual walk, Genesis 1:26, Ps Lindsay said that God had a perfect mind in thought for all people, however John 10:10 says that the thief came to steal, kill and destroy, but this is not our fate as Jesus came to give us life in abundance.

Ps Lindsay reminded us that we should be led by the spirit and not the flesh, as being lead by the flesh will lead to death, but being lead by the spirit will guarantee that we reap fruit and favour with God.

3 Ways to reset our minds:

  1. Read and meditate on the word of God – Hebrews 4:12
  2. Prayer and petition – Ephesians 6:12
  3. Walk by faith – Hebrews 12:2
