Live Like Jesus – Part 2

Live Like Jesus

Ps Dino Cicatello

This week Ps Dino focused on prayer and reminded us that just as Jesus prayed consistently and frequently, so should we, as prayer is not about information but rather about giving God access to our situations.
Ps Dino preached from the book of Luke: chapter 5:16, chapter 6:12, chapter 9:28 and chapter 11:1-4.
In Luke 5:16, Jesus withdrew himself from the crowd and prayed, nobody can force you to pray, you need to personally choose to pray. In Luke 6:12, 9:28 and 11:1-4, the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray, Ps Dino said, it seems as though the disciples had located the power of all the wonders they had experienced while following Jesus.

4 Ways to Pray

  1. Talk to God
We are all beginners when it comes to prayer, a monumental moment was when Jesus taught the Our Father prayer to the disciples as never before this had anyone called God father. If you are going to pray, come to God as a child. Prayer should be intentional so we should use the Our Father prayer as our stencil to pray.
  2. Talk with God
We talk with God by inviting Him into our presence. Pray as you can, not as you can’t – don’t come to God pretending to be someone else. Luke 11:5-13, speaks about a grumpy neighbour who eventually gave the loaves of bread, Jesus refers to this story to show how much more will God give you. John Mark Comer categorised talking to God in 3 ways: gratitude, lament and petition and intercession.
  3. Listen to God
  4. Be with God
