BAPTISM

Baptism is an important step of obedience that shows others we have personally trusted Jesus for our salvation. It is a public declaration of a personal decision to follow Jesus. When Christians are baptized, they are submerged under water to identify with the death and burial of Jesus (Romans 6:4), and raised out of the water to identify with His resurrection. You are showing people that your old nature and your past sins are buried with Jesus, and when you come up out of the water you are saying that Jesus has given you new life.

Baptism tells everyone you are going in a new direction. By asking Jesus to be your Saviour, you’ve asked Him to lead your life. It doesn’t mean that you’ve arrived and are ‘perfect’ – it means that you are surrendering to His ongoing leadership in how you live your life.

Practically, this means that He will guide you in a new and different direction. As you go forward with Him daily, it will mean turning your back on your past, repenting of sin and choosing to live in obedience to God’s will.

We believe that water baptism is a public declaration of 4 important things:

• you desire a FRIENDSHIP with God
• you have accepted the FORGIVENESS freely offered by Jesus through His death and resurrection [Ephesians 2:8-9]
• you have chosen to turn from your own way and FOLLOW Jesus [Acts 2:38; John 14:15; 1 John 2:3]
• and become a part of God’s FAMILY [1 Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 3:26]

VIEW GROUPS

Our vision is to have View Groups in every part of the Northern Suburbs. Our dream is for every person that calls View Church Tygerberg Hills home, to belong to a View Group.

Our Sunday services are awesome with large group worship, but people need smaller groups for fellowship. View Groups create the space for directing people from rows (church) to circles (View Groups) where people can do life and grow together.

To feel that we belong, we don’t have to know everybody, but we must know somebody, and somebody needs to be looking out for us. Where we can move beyond our past and step into the future God has for us. That is why View Groups are so important – people really get to know other people.

When Jesus started His ministry, the first thing He did was to form a small group. He surrounded Himself with 12 men. He didn’t try to do it all on His own. He had deep meaningful relationships with the group, and they were there for Him in very difficult times.

GROWTH TRACK

The front door to our church family is Growth Track, this course guides you to discover your redemptive purpose and live the life God created for you.  Growth Track is made up of 4 steps that equip you to:
1) connect to the church,
2) discover the strengths of your purposeful design,
3) develop your personal leadership, and
4) use your God-given gifts to make a difference in the lives of others.

Growth Track takes place on the first Monday of every month, 19:00 at Tygerberg High School.

It is our goal to help you discover your gifts and purpose, and to see God’s destiny unfold in your life. After you’ve attended Growth Track and discovered your Spiritual gifts, we encourage you to join one of our teams.
