Ps Dino Cicatello
Pastor Dino Cicatello preached this week and while continuing on the Title An Uncommon King, Ps Dino focused on obedience and how it helps us get closer to God.
Pastor Dino reminded us of 4 people in the Bible who walked in obedience:
- Enoch (Genesis 5:22-24 and Hebrews 11:5), he walked in close fellowship with God and pleased God.
- Noah (Genesis 6:9) he was a righteous man, Noah lived in habitual fellowship with God.
- Abraham (Genesis 22:1-19), he had sacrificial obedience
- Moses, (Exodus 4), God called Moses then equipped him, as he was obedient and willing to be used by God.
He spoke about 5 aspects of obedience:
- Obedience expresses our love for God – not so that we can get His love back (John 14)
- Obedience brings blessing – obedience also prepares us to carry the blessing. (Deuteronomy 28:1-14)
- Obedience require sacrifice and often invokes opposition – the enemy is not happy when we follow God’s word. (2 Samuel 24:24 and John 15:18))
- Obedience is a choice not a feeling – He made a choice to save our souls by sacrificing His life. (Deuteronomy 30:19)
- Obedience leads to spiritual growth – grow in your knowledge of the Word and not applying it. (James 1:22-25)
